Welcome to our newest column, North Georgia Playground Reviews!! Each week we will add 3-5 new playgrounds, and each weekly group will be concentrated on a particular County.  Our goal is to eventually feature all 400+ playgrounds in Cherokee, Cobb, Forsyth, Gwinnett, and North Fulton (OTP).  Please visit us each week to learn about new places to play!

We're going to be out adventuring for the fall, but check back in January for more playground reviews!

The Review in a Nutshell

This is a smaller park. We enjoy it when we are looking for time to play together (rather than when my son wants to play on his own or with other kids). It is full sun, though. Often times the JROTC from the local schools practice out on the fields, which my son enjoys watching.

The KNOW Before You Go

Ages: 3-5, 6-12

Parking: Parking Lot

Ground Cover:  Mulch

Shade: The playground is in full sun.

Bathrooms: Clean bathrooms onsite.

Food and Seating: There are benches for seating. A few yards away is a covered pavilion with picnic tables.

Safety and Surrounding Areas: If you bring younger ones, you must keep an eye on them. The playground is not fenced and it is close to the parking lot on one side. The second side is a neighborhood. The other two sides are ball fields with a deep ditch separating them (another safety factor).

Features and Amenities: There are 6 ball fields and a picnic table pavilion. There are future plans to connect this park with JJ Biello West.

The Review in a Nutshell

This park is called JJ Biello, but the playground is so vast, it has its own name – The Valley. This playground is the largest playground in all of Georgia! The structures are fun and encourage creativity, and it is surrounded by woods and green space. While it is my son’s favorite playground of all time, it is in the full sun.

The Review in a Nutshell

Dacula Park (30019)

Dacula Park (30019)

Dacula, GA 30019

The Review in a Nutshell

Take me out to the Ballgame is the song that comes to mind when adventuring through Dacula Park. This active park is home to two playgrounds. The small playground is set right in the middle of 7 baseball fields. The other larger playground is more secluded and away from all the hustle and bustle of the ball fields. Both are in full sun so pack some sunscreen and a ball cap when venturing here.

The KNOW Before You Go

Ages: 0-2, 3-5, 6-12

Parking: Large Lot.

Ground Cover:  The small playground located in the middle of the 7 ball fields is a soft rubber. The Large playground to the back of the park is covered with mulch.

Shade: Mostly sun.

Bathrooms: The small playground is located next to a large building that houses bathroom facilities, and a concession stand. The larger playground has a bathroom facility within 100 yards.

Food and Seating: The small Park has a few picnic tables nearby. The large park has a beautiful pavilion with plenty of seating and charcoal grills. The water fountain is located right next to the bathroom facility. There is also an outdoor classroom in the woods near the large playground.

Safety and Surrounding Areas: This active park is nestled in the heart of Dacula near the Middle and High Schools. Dacula library is also at the entrance to this busy ball park. Avoiding this area during heavy traffic in the morning and late afternoon would probably be best. The small playground is surrounded by a stone wall fence; the larger park is open near a wooded area by the pond.

Features and Amenities: This 76 acre sports complex has a pool that is open in the summer, batting cages, sand volleyball court, seven ball fields, and a paved walking trail near the pond.
