The Review in a Nutshell

There are two playgrounds at Riverside Park. They are within 50 yards of one another and they both offer similar equipment. The “brown” playground is just on the other side of the fence from this park’s Sprayground. Be sure to check out our Sprayground Guide and Get the Know Before You Go on this fun water spot. 

The KNOW Before You Go

Ages: 3-5, 6-12

Ground Cover:  Mulch

Shade: Full sun

Bathrooms: Bathroom facilities are in stand-alone building situated between the two playgrounds.

Food and Seating: There are benches near each of the playgrounds to watch the kiddos. There are also picnic tables with grills under covered pavilions scattered around the park and near the playgrounds. When the sprayground is open, there are concessions available. There are also a few vending machines.

Safety and Surrounding Areas: The red and blue playground have a wall on about 1/3 of the playground serving as a “fence” of sorts. The brown and green playground is surrounded by a split rail fence, mostly for decoration. The playgrounds are a safe distance from the parking lot, though. There is a green space between the two playgrounds, and a spray ground on the other side of the brown and green playground.

Features and Amenities: There is a sprayground, and walking trail at this park as well.

The Review in a Nutshell

This is a smaller playground right on the Chattahoochee River. It is in full shade, and offers a peaceful setting for enjoying the outdoors. 

The KNOW Before You Go

Ages: 3-5, 6-12

Bathrooms: No bathroom.

Food and Seating: There are picnic tables under the trees, and also a large pavilion with picnic tables with grills. There is also a single picnic table right near the water.

Safety and Surrounding Areas: This playground is pretty close to the parking lot and the water, so you will need to keep an eye on your younger kiddos.

Features and Amenities: There is a green space. In the same park but in a different parking area is a place to shoot the ‘hooch!

The Review in a Nutshell

A smaller playground which is located behind the rec center. There are small crepe myrtle trees around it which give it partial shade, depending on the season and time of day.  

The KNOW Before You Go

Shade: Partial sun, depending on time of day and the season of the year.

Bathrooms: Clean bathrooms in rec center (when it is open).

Food and Seating: A few yards away is a covered area with picnic benches and grills. There is vending and water fountains within the rec center (when open).

Safety and Surrounding Areas: There is no fence and it is near the parking lot.

Features and Amenities: Within the rec center is a gym (basketball) and in-line hockey rink. There is also a small walking path around the building.

The Review in a Nutshell

This is a smaller park. We enjoy it when we are looking for time to play together (rather than when my son wants to play on his own or with other kids). It is full sun, though. Often times the JROTC from the local schools practice out on the fields, which my son enjoys watching.

Food and Seating: There are benches for seating. A few yards away is a covered pavilion with picnic tables.

Safety and Surrounding Areas: If you bring younger ones, you must keep an eye on them. The playground is not fenced and it is close to the parking lot on one side. The second side is a neighborhood. The other two sides are ball fields with a deep ditch separating them (another safety factor).

Features and Amenities: There are 6 ball fields and a picnic table pavilion. There are future plans to connect this park with JJ Biello West.

The Review in a Nutshell

This park is called JJ Biello, but the playground is so vast, it has its own name – The Valley. This playground is the largest playground in all of Georgia! The structures are fun and encourage creativity, and it is surrounded by woods and green space. While it is my son’s favorite playground of all time, it is in the full sun.

Ages: 0-2, 3-5, 6-12

Ground Cover:  Mulch

Shade: The playground is in full sun.

Bathrooms: Clean bathrooms onsite.

Food and Seating: Benches are plentiful. Picnic tables are available under covered pavilion. A vending machine for beverages (including bottled water) are near the restrooms, as well as water fountains.

Safety and Surrounding Areas: There is no fence, but it is located in a deep swell in the ground on two side making it feel safe from traffic. Green space on the third side and forest (with a small creek) on the other side.

Features and Amenities: There are plenty of sidewalks within the playground for ride-on toys. In the rest of the park you will find baseball fields and a tennis complex.
